Former England and Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand launched a scathing attack on Portugal boss Jorge Jesus, accusing him of mistreating legendary striker Cristiano Ronaldo and saying that he must "ask for forgiveness". The Al Nassr star left the national team camp early after a breakdown in communication during the UEFA Nations League, with the 41-year-old's role under Jorge, who was also part of Al Nassr's trophy-winning set-up with Cristiano, coming under question. Tensions reached their peak when Portugal played Norway. Ahead of the match, Cristiano was instructed to warm up with the expectation of featuring later in the contest. However, Jorge eventually decided against bringing him on, leaving the legendary striker frustrated on the bench. While Jorge claimed that Cristiano was left out for tactical reasons, it only added to the growing rift between the once-close coach-player pair. Ferdinand, Cristiano's teammate at Manchester United from 2003...

Perth, 1985. India were trailing West Germany 1-5 at hockey's Champions Trophy with about eight minutes left when a 20-year-old fullback picked up the ball near the halfway line, ran at the defence, skipped past four defenders, and lifted it over the goalkeeper. It sparked a comeback still counted among Indian hockey's greatest. India scored four times in that spell to draw 5-5. Forty-one years later, the Congress has handed him the ball in Punjab with lots to defend against, and everything to play for. "It all happened so fast. Maybe the Germans did not expect it from me," Pargat Singh recalled about that match in Australia in a 1991 interview. On Friday, the party named the former Olympic captain its state unit chief, two days after Amarinder Singh Raja Warring resigned and months before the 2027 Assembly elections. Picking Pargat was a fallback, though not purely defensive. Former minister Vijay Inder Singla, a Hindu from the Bania (trader) community who he...

“The job is not done yet.” Sjoerd Marine sounded typically understated when midfielder Neha explored the head coach's reaction on India's entry into the Asian Games final. But a day later, India ended a prolonged 44-year wait, grabbing the women's hockey gold beating Paris Olympic silver medallists China 1-0 in the final. The team also secured qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Soon, Marijne settled into a well-deserved celebration time with his players in the locker room.  But the Dutchman, who returned as India's head coach in January, inherited a divided dressing room short on confidence and disrupted by injuries. However, nine months later, he transformed that group into a fearless, united side that produced its best World Cup finish — fifth — in 52 years before adding an Asian Games gold. Marijne struck an immediate chord with the players, giving instructions, mostly in Hindi: “thoda aage,” “peeche ja,” “Deepu, bhag,” “Shilpi pass.” There have b...

LeBron James' move to the Philadelphia 76ers left the Miami Heat without the reunion many fans had hoped for. But according to Miami Heat beat writer Ira Winderman, Miami did not necessarily lose by making a strong push for James. The Heat were among the teams interested in the 41-year-old star before he chose Philadelphia in July. Miami later added Klay Thompson after also bringing Giannis Antetokounmpo to the roster.  LeBron James And Miami Heat Had Different Plans In 2026 Free Agency The Heat were one of the teams in the mix for James during his long free-agency process. James eventually chose the 76ers and signed a two-year, $8 million contract with a player option. He said his focus was winning another championship, while his friendship with Tyrese Maxey and his desire to help Joel Embiid also played a role.  Winderman addressed whether Miami wasted time by pursuing James. His view was that the Heat had little reason to regret the move because they continued buildin...

She said she does not feel the need to respond to every report about who she may or may not be dating. For Johnson, trying to correct every rumour will only bring more attention. People will believe what they choose and she does not want to spend her time trying to change their minds, she said.  On Vogue's The Run Through podcast, Dakota Johnson said, “Even if I go to dinner with my manager or my lawyer, it's like, ‘Seen with mystery man.' Apple finally unwrapped the iPhone Duo after years of leaks and rumours that claimed the company has been working on a foldable. Early impressions from reviewers and YouTubers are surprisingly consistent: the hinge and the crease aren't the headline anymore. I got my hands on the iPhone Duo last week, and I used it for a bit to see whether what's turning heads is really the device's software. The good news is Apple didn't just shrink iOS to fit a fold. Why this feels fresh and exciting is that, for years, foldables running Android have seen UI that's stretched across two screens with some polishing, and brands calling it a day. Apple seems to have actually gone to the drawing board to figure out how you're supposed to use a foldable device. On the iPhone Duo , the dock moves and multitasking behaves differently depending on how you're holding it. The best part is that even the animation when you open the Duo does real work, not just looks pretty and resize...

Indian equity markets could remain range-bound in Tuesday's session as the Nifty faces a crucial resistance zone around 23,520-23,550 amid persistent geopolitical uncertainty and elevated energy prices. This comes as GIFT Nifty rises 0.34% to 23,519.50 after Brent crude fell below $100. According to Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities, the 23,520-23,550 zone is likely to act as an important resistance area for the Nifty in the near term. "A sustained move above 23,550 could extend the ongoing pullback rally towards the 23,700 mark in the short term," Shah said. On the downside, the 23,330-23,300 zone is expected to provide crucial support. Shah said a breach below 23,300 could weaken the near-term structure and potentially result in the index resuming its corrective trend. Market participants are also keeping a close watch on crude oil prices and geopolitical developments, which could influence the sustainability of the recent re...
