Man Calls Ghee Podi Idli 'Death By Calories'. Foodies On Twitter Agree

Idli is one of the most popular breakfast delicacies in India, especially in the Southern region. Super light and extremely versatile, idli is rich in fibre and protein and also keeps you full for a longer period of time. Speaking of our love for idlis, how could we miss mentioning Bengaluru's ghee podi idli? Podi is a mixture of ground dry spices, which is commonly referred to as gunpowder or chutney powder. When idlis are topped with this podi or gunpowder along with ghee, it definitely makes for a drool-worthy indulgence.
A Twitter user, identified as Ankit.Today, recently shared his dislike for this delicious meal. And, surprisingly many people agreed with him. Sharing an “unpopular opinion,” he wrote, “I cannot stand the drowning in ghee and podi idlis served in a lot of popular joints in Bangalore”. Further, the user stated two reasons why he dislikes ghee podi idli. Ankit said “death by calories” and “ghee overdose” turns him off.
“Give me fresh, hot, soft idlis and a good chutney and I'm super happy,” he added.

Many users totally agreed with the tweet and expressed their dislike for the popular ghee podi idli. One of them said, “Same, I'm so over rameshwaram, never going there again.”

“Agreed totally. That typical Rameswaram Cafe style is not Bengaluru at all. Feels like eating sand. I feel sorry when I see people lining up to eat that abomination,” another wrote.

A user tweeted, “Someone had to say it."

“500 calories in a plate,” read a tweet.

One of the Twitter users opined that “podi idli can be had occasionally,” but “ idli with chutney and sambar in separate bowls” is a daily fix. “Or a bowl of mini idlis dunked in piping hot vengayam sambar.”

They have also been appraised about the current situation between India and Pakistan. Last month too, on the day of the Pahalga...

After Nitish Kumar's 'Praise', BJP Says Doors Closed For Him

The opposition BJP in Bihar on Thursday said that its doors were "closed" for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who dumped the saffron party a year ago, stripping it of power in the state. State BJP President Samrat Choudhary made the averment to this effect in reply to queries from journalists about the Janata Dal United leader's address to the convocation ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi Central University at Motihari. Speaking in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu and Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Mr Kumar had freely spoken of the tussle he had with the then Congress government at the Centre for getting a university approved for Motihari, where Mahatma Gandhi had launched the Champaran Satyagraha. Without mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi by name, Mr Kumar acknowledged that the project saw the light of the day only after a change of guard "in 2014" as the UPA government "initially refused and after much persuasion agreed in principle but did not move for...
